Recently I bought some memory cards for my raspberry pi from Amazon store (product link here). Out of them, today I received Kingston MicroSD card; Kingston Canvas Select Plus 32gb MicroSDHC to be precise. It is UHS-I, U1, V10, A1 category card. The product is usually listed for around INR 550/- but I got it for INR 369/- with lifetime warranty
.
The card is of 32 GB but the usable space seems to be just 29.1 GB. This is not new with storage drives and totally normal too. Computers read storage size in binary numbering system, but manufacturers don't. They manufacture them in sizes in decimal numbering system. That's why we could see them slightly lower than the advertised one.
Now, about real world performance of the card. Following is the company's claim (official link here).
As soon as I got hands on the card, I rushed to my laptop and run the CrystalDiskMark. Following is the CrystalDiskMark speed test result for the memory card.
The read speed got to be 92.49 MB/s and write speed of 20.14 MB/s. This is slightly less than that of company advertised read speed of 100 MB/s. Speeds may vary due to host hardware, software and usage. But for now, we can say that we are getting the nearby equal read speed to that of advertised one. The endurance and performance can be discussed after prolong use of the device.
I will be updating you about the other card I ordered once I get hands on it.
Till then, thank you for visiting the blog. And keep smiling. 😊
